The Global Universal Design Educator's Online News grew out of the Fourth Universal Design Educator's Project Forum held as part of the Designing for the 21st Century Conference in June of 1998. Notes and recommendations from that Forum are included in the first issue, January 1999.

Thanks to the several generous organizations that have supported the Online News since 1999. They include Adaptive Environments, the Center for Universal Design, the Trace Center, the IDEA Center – primarily through grants from the National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) and Thread Media.

There are currently over 300 subscribers from all over the world. To subscribe to the Online News, please click on the ‘join the mailing list’ link on the emailed announcement, or contact eostroff@HumanCenteredDesign.org.

Beginning with the Winter 2009 issue the Institute for Human Centered Design (formerly Adaptive Environments) will help underwrite the Online News and will manage the mailing list. The Online News is produced by Elaine Ostroff, Editor and Diane Richard, Assistant Editor.

Below is a full archive of all issues. Please use the search function to find topics, people, and geographic areas of interest. The years and issues that do not appear as links will be available soon.

We invite you to submit articles and information about universal design education, advocacy, and practice. Send e-mail to eostroff@HumanCenteredDesign.org. Articles should be limited to 300 words. If the issue is too full to include, and the timeliness of the article allows it, we may hold the item until the following issue. Queries about potential submissions are welcome. Information from the Online News may be freely copied and quoted as long as the individual author, and/or web site and this source are cited.
